How short would I be able to cut my hair??

I'm hispanic and I have dark brown, curly hair like my avatar. I want my hair cut short and I have to convince my mom so she won't think that my hair will turn into an afro! So how short would I be able to cut it?

PS. I live in Oklahoma where the humidity makes my hair frizzy. And my hair is past my sholders for about 3 to 4 inches.

With your hair being natural curly, I wouldn't cut more than 4 inches because when it dries it will curl up and make it look really short. I would only cut 4 inches off. It will be short and cool but won't be short enough make you look like you have a fro. I think it will be really cute. Good luck convincing your mom.
